The minimum qualifying marks for the UGC NET exam for the General category is 40% in Paper 1 and 2. However, securing the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee qualification. The UGC NET cut off is determined based on factors such as the number of candidates who appeared in the exam, the difficulty level of the question paper, and previous year cut off trends. The cut off marks are subject and category specific, and candidates need to score equal to or more than the cut off marks to be declared as qualified.

The UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) does not furnish an All India Rank (AIR) for candidates. Instead, the results indicate whether candidates have qualified for Assistant Professorship or Junior Research Fellowship. The scoring system includes percentiles and subject-wise scores, offering candidates an understanding of their performance in comparison to others. While a specific All India Rank is not provided, candidates can use these percentiles to gauge their relative standing.
