It is one of the most sought after engineering colleges in Kerala.Now the college is managed by Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies (CPAS), a society established by Government of Kerala; under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Minister for Education.All the courses conducted by the college have been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. This institute started functioning on 1996 in Thodupuzha and was later moved to its own campus at Muttom in May 2002.Facilities:Central Library: UCE library has good collection of books in its repository, including national and international journals and magazines.Hostel: College has boys hostel which can accommodate 43 students and also mess facility available within hostel. Laboratories: All departments have laboratories with modern facilities, equipments and systems as per AICTE regulations.Computing and Internet Facilities:  college has5 computer laboratories. The median placement of students in UCE is around 7.82lakhs per annum and the Maximum package till now of 37.49 LPA was shaked by a student of our college while others got around 1 to 13 Lacs per annum. This implies to a little above one L Lauderdale package than the previous year average of 6.96 LPA.The placement percentage of M.Tech students stands at around 52.4 per cent, which makes it 250 enrolled students of which 131 have been placed There is a stiff competition from other schools especially Birla Institute of Technology and Science or Bhubaneswar or Indian Institute of Technology Delhi / Mumbai Top companies which have visited the campus include DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and British Petroleum .us year's average package of 6.96 LPA . 

University College of Engineering is not very expensive and its fees are moderate. For B.Tech., the tuition fee is INR 22,090 for the Karnataka students and INR 1,81,140 for students from other states. Accommodation costs are at around INR 10000 per annum to INR 35000 per annum including for Hostel fees which is INR 50000 to INR 70000 per annum. Other expenses are Admission fees = INR 10, 000 and Examination fees =INR  5000. Total estimated cost for 4-year B.Tech. program:INR 2.5 Lacs (Karnataka) to INR  7.5 Lacs (other states of India). Some of the scholarships for merit student will be given below: Tuition fee of 50% will be waived off for those KCET rank holders who are below 1,000.
