The standard that is used for admission to the University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha differs from year to year depending on pass marks in KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) and the number of students who apply. In general, the opening is usually decided based on the popularity of the branch, in which an upper limit of 100-200 rank opens for general category students and for some courses it may be even lower. Perhaps for other branches, perhaps the cutoff is somewhat higher, but below the average. Candidates are therefore encouraged to review this year's particular cut-off trends for more accurate information.

Admission to the University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha to B.E./ B.Tech courses offered is not direct and commonly known as management quota. The main mode of entry is through performance in the Kenya Engineering Architecture Medical test commonly known as KEAM. However, the candidate can apply for the management quota if the seats are available where the candidate may not need to have KEAM scores always; other factors can be used for admission which may include performance, mark or score obtained among others. While taking the PG courses, some universities may demand GATE scores or the university entrance exam scores.

University College of Engineering, Thodupuzha offers the B.E. / B.Tech programmes for admission to which candidates are selected based on KEAM. However, the candidates who couldn't appear for KEAM can register under the Management quota, though these intakes are restricted. In the case of management quota admissions, there may be other requirements such as marks in the 12th standard, but insofar as government-quota seats are concerned KEAM is the principal pathway.
