For UG applications, the University of Birmingham admission decisions are usually made within 15 working days. However, sometimes the academic department may review applications again or call applicants for an interview. In such cases, the decision may take longer than the estimated working days. For postgraduate courses, students need to wait for at least 10-15 days to receive a decision on their application. Students, who have applied for undergraduate courses, can track their application on the UCAS portal. Students, who have applied for postgraduate courses, can track their application on the University portal.

The University of Birmingham's acceptance rate is in the range of 13.54% to 15%. In 2018, it received more than 40,000 applicants out of which only a little more than 5,000 were accepted. So, yes, it is a highly competitive university. A low acceptance rate shows that the University has stringent admission criteria and high entry standards. Students are advised to be very careful about the entire application when it comes to applying to such universities. They should take the entire admission cycle very seriously, whether it is course selection, application document preparation, meeting the deadlines, appearing for the interview, etc.
