There is no application fee at the University of Bonn for international applicants. However, all students are required to pay a social contribution fee, also known as a semester fee, which is around Euro 300 per semester (Euro 600 per year). This fee is used to finance various services and facilities provided by the university, such as student transit passes, maintaining canteens, providing accommodation for students, and organizing educational support/grants.

Since the University of Bonn is a public institution, there are no tuition fees and no application fees. However, every student is required to pay the social contribution (also known as the semester fee), the amount of which is democratically decided by student representatives, once every semester. Additionally, each student must pay for their own living expenses such as rent, food, phone, internet, textbooks, extracurricular activities, etc. The ‘partial’ cross-registration category is charged Euro 100.00 per semester.
