The University of Hamburg does not charge tuition fees for the majority of its programs, including for international students. However, all students are required to pay a semester contribution, which is about €335 per semester for the summer semester of 2022. The semester contribution is composed of several components, including €12 for constitutional student body regulations, €179.90 for the semester public transport pass, €5.10 for the semester public transport pass hardship fund, €85 for the Studierendenwerk, and an administrative fee of €50.

The University of Hamburg does not charge any application fee from international students while applying online for admissions. However, international students are required to send only verified academic transcripts, which is done through uni-assist. The uni-assist charges EUR 75 per application each semester. This fee is subject to vary each year. The University of Hamburg offers over 71 undergraduate, 88 graduate, and vocational programs. The University of Hamburg offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The University does not charge any tuition fee for most of its courses. However, some courses attract respective tuition fees. Students are required to pay the semester fee following the programme they choose to pursue. There is no application fee to apply online to the University of Hamburg. However, international students are required to send only verified academic transcripts by uni-assist. The uni-assist charges EUR 75 per application each semester. This fee is subject to vary each year. Also, if your transcripts are verified by a German authority then you do not need VPD from uni-assist.

Yes, the University of Hamburg is free for international students. For the majority of its programs, the university does not charge any tuition fees. Besides, the university offers a number of scholarships to international students and hence making it one of the most affordable for international students. The majority of the publicly funded universities in Germany are tuition-free for all, including international students. However, international students are required to pay other fees such as registration and monthly pass etc.
