University of Louisville is internationally known for the following:University of Louisville has its main campus in Belknap which is home to 8 of the university's 12 academic schools and colleges. The university was founded in 1798 as one of the nation's first public university. It has been recognised by the Carnegie Foundation as both a Research and Community university. University of Louisville currently has more than 160,000 alumni members in the world. Also, the university is one of the largest employers and has contributed to the cultural and intellectual life of the community. The university has a goal of ensuring access to higher education for all students, which increases the availability of financial aid for low income. 

University of Louisville has four campuses, Belknap campus, Health Science campus, Shelby campus, and the International campus. The Belknap campus has 12 academic colleges. It features the Student's Activities center, Rauch Planetarium and Lutz Hall which houses the departments of Sociology, Art, History, Anthropology, Geography, and Engineering. The Health Sciences campus is the main campus. It is home to two major hospitals and some specialty hospitals. This campus has a ten-story University hospital and a fourteen-story Medical Research Centre. The Shelby campus is spread over 230 acres of land. This campus has three buildings where all the seminars, events and competitions organized by the university take place. The university has decided to develop a research center at this campus. The fourth campus, the International campus is home to students of the MBA program.
