Some of the tips for students starting their first-semester at the University of Massachusets Amherst are:Students who applied for University of Massachusetts Amherst must be humble and should interact with as many people as possible. Mainly beacause, the more people you talk to the better knowledge you get. Attend as many gathering and parties as much as you can. Applicants should avoid missing classess, as 70% of learning comes from students going to classes. Students can get invovlved with extracuricular activities, i.e joing university clubs, sports etc. This will also look good on a portfolio in the longer run.

F1 students are eligible to work on-campus as long as they maintain their immigration status. Employment is limited to a total of 20-hours per week when the university is in session. In vacation periods, students can work 20+ hours. Off-campus work can also be done but prior authorization has to be taken from International Programs Office at UMass Amherst.

UVM has always known as ‘Public Ivy’ but in recent years it is not nearly as highly ranked as it was used to be. UMass Amherst is ranking better. When it comes to living, then living in Massachusetts is higher, whereas, living in Vermont is cheaper. Furthermore, UMass Amherst is a member of the Five College Consortium.
