It will take two years atleast to complete your PhD program. It will be mandatory for the students to attend 3 sessions in full-time residence at the university or at any other institution which is approved. The students will start writing their thesis once their coursework is complete.

A study permit allows students residing abroad to study at designated learning institutions in Canada. If you're an international student, it is important for you to obtain a study permit. Apply for the same before you reach Canada and ensure that all your documents are ready before you fill out the application.

Yes, you may. But a work permit has been made compulsory since 2014, as a part of the study permit for international students, who want to get into off-campus employment, for up to 20 hours every week. Also, before you start working, you will have to obtain your Numero d'assurance sociale (NAS) or Social Insurance Number (SIN) in order to work and earn in Canada.

Although you can choose three courses of your interest while applying to the university, you will be able to study only one of them. Students should therefore prioritize their field of studies and then submit the choices.
