Hi Aman, UPSC exam in its official website itself recommends to only and strictly follow NCERT books for the preparation and many a times questions are either directly fetched or moulded from the NCERT textbooks itself along with current affairs updates from newspaper The Hindu and The Indian Express. Along with them, you may go for M. Laxmikanth book for polity of India and study of constitution. Also, Economics is the subject you need to go with +1 and +2 macrofinance books and for the rest of the subjects it would be advisable to go through NCERT books from 7th standard to 12th standard for all geography, history, art and culture, p

Hi, This is the dilemma I have recently gone through and now can perfectly advise you not to go follow the herd. It is not at all required to join some famed institute in Delhi for the preparation of UPSC as most of the results displayed at the institutes of Delhi are fake and forged. This exam demands reading and devoting time to subjects as much as you can and many of my near ones have cleared it via self study itself. But for the beginner it is advisable to join coaching not for the learning sake but guidance sake that how and which direction to follow correctly towards achievement in these exams. Rest, it all depends upon the devot

Hi Akarsh, there is no importance given to marks of 10th and 12th for appearing in UPSC and any other state government exams. It is only an eligibility criteria for you to present your 10th, 12th and degree certificate while filling up the form for the same. Do not worry and go ahead! All the best!

Hi Akshita, If seen eligibility wise- you can go for any stream any field, UPSC and govt exams do not impose any restrictions on the field of study, but for a better foundation and preparation towards your aim better to have subjects which form the important part of UPSC and law exams so that you are ahead in the long run competition by some means. For this, you may take humanities as your field of study and go for politics, law management, history or geography as your subjects. All the best!

You can certainly take up the UPSC preparation course along with your degree studies which is called a foundation course. You will encounter a challenge to maintain the time accordingly but for a suggestion (like most of the students are doing that I am in connection with), you may go for coaching at weekend basis and manage to revise your coaching matter for that weekend slowly during the entire week keeping in sync your regular college studies, this kind of management really works well. Thousands of students are preparing of UPSC right along with their high school studies or from their UG itself, so do not lose hope and go for it.

Hello Aman,
It's highly dependent upon your aspiration.
B.Tech is best for those who aspiring to become IES service. B.A. Political Science/History is best for IAS. B.Sc forensic science/chemistry is best for forensic science services. B.A. English/Economics/Foreign trades are well suit to IFS services. These are not only eligibility criterias (except IAS, IFS, Customs, Other services) these are the step stones that make you to lead others easily and these subjects are already learnt by you at school level and you have the basic knowledge.
