CA is recipe for an excellent Corporate career or individual practice with lots of money, challenges and satisfying career. But if you have social orientation and want to be change agent in society, Civil Services particularly IAS is the right career for you. Hi Ak,
There is no particular course which can help you crack the UPSC, SSC or any government examination. At max, it can help you in some section of the competitive examination. The subjects of BA such as history, geography, political science can help you in the general studies section of the examination. Further, you can also opt for that honours course which you are planning to take as an optional subject in the civil services examination.

Hi Amit,
There would be no problem at the interview stage regarding your education though SOL-DU. A lot of aspirants with correspondence background have cracked the examination in the past. At the interview stage, they are more concerned with your suitability and aptitude for services.

According to UPSC examination, it has an important role in respect of knowledge and syllabus wise.
But in respect of professional degree, my vote will go for Economics Honors for plan B. If you are not able to clear the UPSC exam, you can start your job and further education for a better career.
