Every year, 180 candidates are recruited for the IAS. The candidate from each category is assigned to the IAS according to the rank in their respective category. The General Category candidate under rank 100 can expect to get an IAS. For other categories, it is difficult to ascertain a rank for getting the IAS but for the OBC, if the candidate secures under 150 rank, he or she can get the IAS easily.

The number of candidates declared qualified in the UPSC IAS result differs from stage to stage of the IAS exam. The UPSC mentions the tentative numbers of the candidates who will be selected at a particular stage. The number of candidates to be admitted to the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be about twelve to thirteen times the tentative number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this Examination.

The Government of India has increased the number of vacancies for the IPS in the UPSC exam. The total number of candidates selected for the IPS is 200 now. Earlier this number was 150 only but the Government increased it in the year 2021. Apart from IAS and IPS, the number of vacancies are not fixed for any service.

The number of vacancies in the UPSC Civil Service Exam is declining with each passing year but the number of IAS officer recruited every year remain steady at 180. The number of such recruitment is based on the Baswan Committee recommendation which recommended recruiting 180 IAS officers every year to fill the gap between the required numbers and actual recruitment.

IAS Final Result 2022 has been released online. Ishita Kishore has topped the exam. Garima Lohia secured rank 2 in the exam. Uma Harathin secured rank three in the IAS 2022 exam. The UPSC conducted the IAS 2022 personality test till May 18, 2023. The Union Public Service Commission will release the Cutoff and answer key after the result. The Commission is expected to release the final result within one week of the completion of interviews. IAS main result 2022 was released online on December 6, 2022. The eligible candidates called for interviews at the Dholpur House in New Delhi.

The candidates will be required to carry the same photo identity proof whose number was mentioned in the UPSC application form. The candidates will be required to produce the same at the time of examination because its number will be mentioned on the UPSC admit card. List of Valid Photo Identity Proof
