Three types of visas to students are offered by US goverment; F-1, J-1 and M-1. Therefore, the cost of a student visa depends on the type of visa you are applying for. The cost for a F-1 US student visa is USD 185. The F-1 study visa is for international students who are applying for a programme in any American university that requires more than 18 hours of study in a week.
