In fact NIOS is recognised by Ministry of Education, Government of India and Certificates issued to the examinees are also equivalent and comparable to others like those of CBSE and ICSE. Universities and colleges in the USA generally accept NIOS qualifications for undergraduate admissions, subject to other admission requirements, including standardized test scores, such as SAT/ACT, and English proficiency. NIOS students are encouraged to verify the specific requirements of each university since some institutions may have special policies on foreign qualifications.
