Hello,
I would say both countries are good for Industrial Engineering and helps you build your career. Canada has an edge being geographically larger and number of industries being present there giving more scope of getting placed. It also depends on the university you are doing the course from and how have you performed, which ultimately results in better placements.

Yes, GMAT is mandatory and along with GMAT you have to have at least 3 years of work organisation in an organisation and also need to have minimum 6.5 IELTS score and at least a 4 years Bachelor's degree such as engineering or a Master's degree with good academic record.

Lot of things matter. IIM admits even a fresh graduate and world believes them to be a management expert. IIMs current reputation is due to being oldest institutes and their alumni. After hard work of more than 3 decades, they have reached in top positions in the corporate and naturally without applying mind corporate started shouting chalo IIM chalo IIM and so on. in IIM even a fresh graduate without any prior work experience gets admission. can you imagine, a fresh grads without prior work experience who even does not know how business functions beyond case study and presentation suddenly expecting to be in decision making position.
