After completion of the course you can find employment both in the public a well as private sector.In the public sector, one can find employment with Directorates and Departments of tourism of the center and the state, guides etc, while in the private sector he/she can secure a job in a travel agency, hotel, airline, transport agency or a cargo company.
The good thing about this industry is that one can always move up the career ladder fast and establish his own agency after a few years as this industry is a comparatively new one and hence lacks experienced individuals. Ourism opens up multiple career streams like airlines, travel agencies, tour operators, time share companies, holiday consultants, airports, hotels, marketing, counter sales, or guide services. Tourism graduates can find job in multi-million airlines and travel agencies employing thousands of professionals to small-ticketing agencies employing fewer people. Besides the private sector, job opportunities also exist in the government sectors. A graduate can find job in various state boards, corporations, and tourism departments.
Tourism offers employment in emerging sectors like eco-tourism, sustainable tourism and medical tourism also. Many states have set up or are in the process of setting up separate bodies for promotion of these sectors. Punjab, too, is actively emerging as a hub of medical tourism.
The eligibility depends on the type of course that you wish to pursue , the details of some courses is stated below:
Diploma –Class 10th pass from a recognised board with minimum 40% marks.
Bachelor's Degree: Class 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks.
Post-graduation degree: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks.
Graduate & PG programs may also require you to appear in entrance exams
