Utkal University has 381 affiliated colleges. These colleges offer various UG, PG, and PhD courses in different streams, such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Commerce and Management, Medicine, Homoeopathy, Law, etc. Candidates for UG courses are selected on a first-come, first-served basis, and candidates for PG courses like MA and M.Com. are selected with the entrance examination and merit-based selection followed by the interview or group discussion. Utkal University offers various PG courses. It offers two-year MBA, MCA, MCom, MTech, MSc, LLM, and MA courses. The MSc is offered in 10 specialisations. The university also offers MPhil and PhD courses in 30 different specialisations. The minimum course duration for a PhD is three years, with a maximum of six years. The minimum course duration for an MPhil is two years, whereas the maximum course duration is five years. The university also offers sponsored courses to the students, like a five-year integrated MBA, an MCA, and other courses.

Yes, Utkal University has separate hostels for boys and girls. There are a total of 13 hostels, six for boys and seven for girls. Every hostel has a common room where boarders are provided with computer, WiFi, Library, newspapers, periodicals, and television. The students are also provided with computational facilities and WiFi. Each hostel has a mess facility.

Utkal University has 117 faculty members and 343 non-teaching staff. The university professors are PhD and Diploma holders. The university conducts conferences on a large scale and also arranges guest lectures for the students on various occasions. As per the report, the median package offered during Utkal University UG 4-year and PG 2-year placements 2022 stood at INR 1.80 LPA and INR 4.00 LPA, respectively.
