The largest share of Uttarakhand Open University alumni are working in Operations (33%) followed by Education (24%) sectors. The other sectors that UOU alumni are working in are Business Development (17%) followed by IT (13%) and Sales (13%) sectors.

Uttarakhand Open University offers PG courses such as M.Com MBA, MCA MTTM and MSW. All of these courses are offered with the course duration of two years. Uttarakhand Open University also offers lateral entry admission in the second year of MCA and M.Sc. IT programmes.

The university has not released the official placement report for the year 2023. However, as per placement report 2021, a total of 38 Diploma in Hotel Administration students were placed during UOU placement 2021. UOU offers BA, BBA, BSc, BCom, BCA, etc., at the UG level and MA, MSc, MA, MCA and MCom at the PG level. Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) is the only Open University established in the state of Uttarakhand with an objective to impart distance learning education at the UG and PG levels. The university offers over 85 programmes at UG, PG and Doctorate levels. UOU admission is merit-based.

A total of 38 students were placed during placement 2021. However, 240 and 195 students were placed in 2019 and 2020. A fluctuating trend has been observed in the overall number of students placed in the past three years I. e. 2019 vs 2020 vs 2021.

Uttarakhand Open University (also known as UOU Haldwani) was established in 2005. UOU courses are recognised by Distance Education Council (DEC) and UGC. UOU Haldwani consists of a total of 14 schools in different streams of education. UOU offers its programmes through 240+ Study Centres established at different locations in the state under eight Regional Centres at Dehradun, Roorkee, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Dwarahat, Bageshwar, Haldwani and Pithoragarh.
