Yes, Vel Tech offers a three-year BTech Lateral Entry course. Admission to this course is merit-based. Students who are willing to get admission to this course are required to pass Diploma in Engineering/ Technology from the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent as the minimum eligibility criteria. In order to get admission to BTech at Vel Tech, students are required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria. At Vel Tech, students can get admission to BTech in direct mode as well as through an entrance exam. Direct admission to BTech is merit-based, while for entrance-based admission, students are required to qualify for VTUEEE. It is an in-house entrance exam, which is particularly conducted for Engineering.

Vel Tech offers admission to a four-year BTech course through both direct and entrance modes. The eligibility criteria for direct admission is to pass Class 12 with 60% aggregate in the respective subjects or equivalent from any recognised board and there is no entrance exam required for direct admission. For entrance-based admission, students must pass Class 12 in the respective subjects or equivalent. Those who get less than 60% aggregate in their previous qualifying exams.
