A graphic designer can be a web designer, a graphic designer can become an UX designer or Print Designer as well. But to be exact graphic design is simple designing graphics. Say it designing a movie character, icons, cartoons, textures, backgrounds, logos, business cards, flyers, brochures and many more.
Web Design - This includes designing web sites and web sites only as the name suggest. In which its totally up to designer which fonts to use in a web site, which color, what is the style, what could be the effects. A Web Designer thinks of user aspects, prototyping etc. and then a front end developer puts his/her web design to motion.
VFX (Visual Effects) - Visual Effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. Like you've seen Spiderman, Superman etc in movies and comics they were not real but after watching films we take it as real. So how come they got such powers and all that its basically visual effects. In VFX we animate live things or you can say live characters. We put live things to motion. Movies like Jurassic park, superman, Spiderman all comes in this category.
Gaming - It belongs to Game Development Industry. It includes motion gaming. Every type of game design comes in this category. Say Need For Speed, Counter Strike, Resident Evil, Batman, Vice City, Prince of Persia, Angry Birds. It includes game programming as well as design or development in simple words.

Prominent universities offer the gamut of animation scholarships from hobby to professional animation. Students undertaking careers in animation will need to complete common graphic coursework and computer designing, as well as drawing and traditional illustration, film and photographic techniques. JMC Academy Undergraduate Scholarship Programme
JMC Academy's 3D Animation course will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and deep critical and creative thinking needed to excel in this dramatically expanding area. The application will open in February.
The Arts University Bournemouth Masters Scholarships
Arts University Bournemouth offers scholarships for all Masters programmes. Applicant should the demonstrable high level of past achievement either in education or through professional experience such as employment or in creative practice. Total offer is of 1500 for all Master's Program except Animation Production 2000 and Film Production 3000. Scholarships will be available in January.
JMC Academy Diploma in Animation
The Diploma course will introduce you to the art and practice of animation in both its 2D and 3D glory. In trimesters 1 and 2 you will be able to get hands-on with the design and development of characters and worlds you may have previously only imagined, using drawing and visualisation techniques. The application will open in February.
JMC Academy Animation Scholarships
JMC Academy Creative Industries is offering animation scholarships for the Australian students. JMC Academy's scholarships cover the tuition fee for the first year of study. 18 scholarships are offered each year. Applicants must have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in the creative industries. The application deadline is 18th December.
Randy Pausch Scholarship Fund
The Randy Pausch Scholarship fund for undergraduate and graduate studies program is offered by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. Two scholarships worth of $2,500 is offered. The students of USA can apply for these animation scholarships.
