I think, it depends on what type of study you go into, the University campus' themselves are real nice and the teachers can be helpful depending on which ones you get but in saying that they understand that your an adult and they don't baby you in your studies. There are facilities that can help you on campus and off such as the student information center (the hub), on site councilors and on site apartments for most universities for people who can afford to travel back and forth from home.
