A Bachelor's degree in any field with aggregate marks of not less than 50% pass from any recognised university are taken as eligible candidates for the MCA course offered at Vignan's Institute of Information Technology. The application also requires the study of Mathematics either at the 10+2 level or at the undergraduate level. Admission is strictly based on merit. The candidate seeking admission must have a valid score in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the university or any entrance examination recognized by the university. The cutoff list is already issued by Vignan's Institute of Information Technology for the year 2024. From the Andhra Pradesh EAMCET cutoff, it can be reflected that in the last round, the closing ranks were between 8992 and 73651 for B.Tech classes under the General category. For classes of MBA as well as MCA, closing ranks were recorded at 29758 and 11410 respectively for General Home State candidates. The cutoff is a reflection of the competitive admission process, and it keeps changing with every course and category, based on specific ranks for admission to a seat.

Vignan's Institute of Information Technology is generally rated as a Tier 2 institution. It is well known for its academic standard and has also won several great rankings, one being NIRF's ranking for engineering 2024 at #201-300 and the Times ranking, 79th in 2023.
