The MBA department of VTU offers specialisation in Marketing, Finance and Human Resources.  Students can also opt for dual or core specialisations. Apart from these three, various specialisations are offered through online MBA programme run by the university. VTU also offers MBA in various specialisations through its affiliated colleges.

Seats at VTU are allocated by KEA, based on the scores of the accepted exams. However, the university promotes inclusivity of students belonging to the minority categories of Karnataka. So the eligibility criteria of minimum aggregate marks in bachelor’s degree is 45% for the minority candidates belonging to Karnataka, as opposed to the minimum aggregate requirement of 50% for all the other candidates.

The total student intake at VTU Belgaum for its MBA programme is of 120 students. Apart from these, the colleges affiliated with VTU also provide an MBA in various specialisations. These seats are allocated on the basis of scores of various accepted entrance exams. These exams include Karnataka PGCET, KMAT, XAT, CAT, etc.

Each year various companies participate in the placement drive of VTU, for a variety of job profiles. Some of the top recruiters who visited the university in the previous years include ICICI Bank, Bigbasket.com, Spandana Sphoorty Financial Ltd., Brain Management Consultants, Reliance Industries, Allegis Services India, Amazon, Axis Bank, etc.

The placements at VTU have shown an increasing trend over the previous years. The median package offered to MBA students at VTU increased from INR 3.5 LPA in 20221 to INR 3.65 LPA in 2022. Many new recruiters are getting on-board for the placement drive at VTU each year.

The average package offered to MBA students of VTU in the past few years, lies within the range of INR 3-4 LPA. According to the NIRF 2023 reports, the median package offered to MBA students at VTU was INR 3.65 LPA in 2022. It has increased by 4% since 2021. In 2021, the median package offered to MBA students of the university was INR 3.50 LPA.

As per the Times Rating, VTU bagged the #59 rank for its management department in the year 2022. However, the institute was not ranked in 2023. The Times takes Teaching, Research and Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income into consideration for ranking the institutions.

Although VTU is a famous option among the engineering aspirants, its management department is also growing popular over the years. It was ranked at #95 by NIRF, which makes it a considerable choice for MBA. NIRF judges an educational institution based on a variety of parameters including Teaching, Learning, Research, Outcomes and inclusivity. The VTU MBA fee is also less than most MBA colleges, making it an affordable option for the aspirants.

As per the NIRF Ranking of 2023, VTU was ranked at #95 position for management category. This makes the management department of VTU, the sixth best in all over Karnataka. In 2022, NIRF ranking for VTU MBA was #76. NIRF is a renowned ranking agency that judges an educational institution based on a variety of parameters including Teaching, Learning, Research, Outcomes and inclusivity.

VTU also accepts CAT score for admission to its MBA courses. However, the cut-off keeps fluctuating based on the availability of seats, difficulty level of exam and the volume of application. In 2023, the round 1 CAT cut-off for VTU was 40 percentiles for the applicants belonging to general category.
