VIT Vellore does not follow a dress code for all working days in the week. Students can wear dresses as per their wish. Both formal and informal dresses are allowed in the campus. Sleevless shirts and tops are allowed for both boys and girls. A special permission is required to wear a saree for girls and a vest with a shirt for boys on a normal day.

As per the information available on web, students need to apply for outing online and have to get it approved from the warden for weekends. On weekdays, students can go out without applying for the outing. Hostel at VIT Vellore have an in-time and students need to abide by it. In case of late, students need to pay a fine.

A CGPA of more than 9 is considered good enough to avail various benefits at VIT Vellore. As per the information on web, a student who has CGPA greater than 9 is exempted from minimum attendance criteria. At the time of placement, students who have better CGPA are shortlisted for exams first. A minimum of 8.5 or 8 CGPA is enough to get shortlisted in most of the companies.

VIT Vellore provides hostel facilities to students pursuing a course from the institute. There are AC and Non-AC single and shared bed options. The shared accommodation is offered only to first year UG students. As per the information available on the web, students get to choose from AC or Non-Ac rooms in the first year. From second-year CGPA based rooms are allocated to students.
