VIT Vellore offers scholarships in the form of tuition waivers and freeships. While merit scholarships are awarded to class toppers, economically challenged students are provided need-based financial assistance. Furthermore, NRI and foreign students are given scholarships upon presenting meritorious records. Students from rural backgrounds who secure top ranks in VITEEE at the district level (in Tamil Nadu only) are given free education. Admission to M.Tech course is based on GATE/ VITMEE score followed by a counselling round. After completion of the selection rounds, Vellore Institute of Technology releases a merit list to announce the names of the shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted aspirants are called for counselling and document verification. Aspirants need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the institute. The total fee for M.Tech ranges between INR 3.03 Lacs - INR 3.83 Lacs for Category 1 and INR 4.63 Lacs and INR 6.02 Lacs for Category 2. The institute offers a full-time M.Tech in 22 specialisations of Engineering. A few of the top specialisations include Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI Design, CAD/ CAM, Biotechnology, Automotive Electronics, and Manufacturing Engineering, among others. Candidates must hold BE/ BTech degree in relevant discipline to apply for the M.Tech course. Candidates must pass BE/ BTech degree in relevant subjects to apply for the M.Tech course. BBA is a three-year course offered at the UG level. Candidates must pass Class 12 with at least 65% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST and others) with Commerce /Accountancy /Book Keeping and Accountancy /Mathematics /Business Maths & Statistics /Business Studies /Business Management /Business Economics /Economics as one of the subjects in the qualifying examination to apply for the BBA course. Additionally, the institute shortlists candidates based on their merit in the last qualifying exam. After completion of the selection rounds, the institute releases a merit list to announce the names of the shortlisted candidates. The shortlisted aspirants are called for counselling and document verification. 

A pass in regular, full-time UG/ Integrated degree from a recognised institute/ university of at least three years duration with a minimum of 60% aggregate (50% for SC/ ST candidates and applicants belonging to Jammu & Kashmir and North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura) is required to apply for the MBA course. Candidates appearing for the final year examination in 2024, whose results will be published before Aug 15, 2024 are also eligible to apply.Additionally, the institute shortlists candidates for MBA course based on national-level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, NMAT, ATMA. The shortlisted aspirants are further required to come for the PI round. Vellore Institute of Technology will also consider the academic performance and work experience of the candidates for final selection.
