BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) is almost equal and better then even legacy IITs in few engineering branches. It is definitely a better option in comparison to VIT.

The classes have already been started for the academic year 2016-17. You can aim for 2017-18 intake. Usually, the application for VITEEE will be available in the month of January/February

Hello,
Almost all of these entrance exams are conducted with aim of testing student's ability of logical thinking and knowledge of fundamentals of science. I would therefore advise you to stick to brushing up your basics. Besides, you will have to learn to answer in stipulated time. There are practice papers available, you can try these. But, get answers vetted by your professors.
