DI and LR section has been the lowest scoring section in CAT. The score required for a 99 percentile in this section is around 45/46 (2018/19 CAT), while the other two sections require marks above 65. An additional 8 to 10 questions have to answered in the other two sections. Only the top 1% in the country manage to go beyond 16 questions (or four sets). You have to prepare for CAT exam for which you have to start studying portions of maths from 1st year onwards.
We can classify the topics under this section into 5 broad categories:
1. Number systems
2. Algebra
3. Arithmetic
4. Geometry and mensuration
5. Modern maths
You have to be strong and focus on fundamental aspects.
2nd part is that you have to solve as many questions as you can as that would help you to increase your speed.
