The candidates should note that the WBCS main syllabus can be said as the extension of the prelims syllabus because some of the sections are common in both the prelims and main exam. The candidates are suggested to prepare for the main exam with factual orientation so that they can answer prelims questions also. The WBCS syllabus for the prelims and Mains exam is mentioned separately in the official notification. The WBCS Prelims syllabus is somewhat similar to the Mains syllabus, with some overlap in topics.
