It depends on what your fellow competitors are preferring this year. With your rank, it is possible to get the IT stream, although CSE will be a little difficult in getting.

The government is considering conducting a single entrance examination for admission to all engineering colleges, including private institutions, across the country.
It is aimed at bringing transparency to the admission procedure, including checking the practice in some private institutions of extracting a heavy capitation fee from students.

You can get private colleges but if you think to have more colleges and universities, you can check for JOSSA site and check out the last year opening and closing of CSE ranks and get the approximate overview which is best suited college.

Now, if you are a general category student, you need to get a rank of about 3000 to get a branch at JU and for better branches you need to be in the top 1500. And to get 15002000 rank you should score at least 45% or above marks in WBJEE.
And as this year IIEST, Shibpur is no longer taking admissions through WBJEE, hence you need to be in top 1500. Beyond 2000 may not guarantee you a seat, I guess.

You have to get a rank under 3000 in general for getting this chance.

Hello Ankit,
Try viewing the expected colleges that you can get admission into by clicking on the following link:
https://www.shiksha.com/b-tech/resources/wbjee-college-predictor
If none of the colleges or streams are even near your interest, then take a drop and reappear for the exam.
Hope this helps! All the best!
