If you are a general rank holder, then getting into the above -mentioned streams in any of the known government engineering colleges will be difficult for you, (I think you can try out IT at Jalpaiguri or Kalyani government engineering colleges, you might be fortunate enough in the 3rd round)
Unfortunately, there will be no room for you in JU and IIEST Shibpur with the above-mentioned rank, provided if you are a general category student.

Hi, if you have the merit rank then definitely you will get whichever college you want.
What I will suggest you is to be careful at the time of choice filling. Please put the name of the college on the top in which wish to take admission.

The major thing that you should follow is the pattern. Maths is given the highest priority with 100 marks and is considered to be the lengthiest paper. Indeed, it is lengthy but the art of choosing questions play a key role here. One has to choose questions at first that are easy to solve and are scoring, then try for the little tough ones and if there is time, go for the difficult. If you choose questions correctly,60+ in maths can be achieved. Now, physics and chemistry are 50 marks each. It can't be said exactly, the cutoff mark will say whether you can gen admission or not. Check out a particular college where you want to study.

To get admission in government colleges Domicile certificate is must! I don't know much about the private colleges. During last year's counseling they checked domicile certificate of each and every student. Do you have any of your parents working in West Bengal? If yes, then you can GET a domicile certificate. You can check once the site and make sure which proforma is valid for you. I know few students of Bihar studying in JGEC.
