If you are well prepared for CAT and your basics are clear, you need only a month for XAT.
If you can arrange enough quality material for practice, a coaching institute won't be necessary. However, it is always good to have mentors.
Try solving as many previous XAT papers as you can. It helps you strengthen your concepts and gives a fair idea of the time you will need for each section during the exam.
XAT also tests your GK and writing skills. These two do not need any extra attention if you are well read up on current affairs.

The required score in XAT for MBA (general) programme is 85 percentile (minimum) and for other MBA specialisation is 80 percentile (minimum).
