To become a yoga instructor in India a PG Diploma in yoga after graduation from a recognised institution is the minimum qualification required. However, a certificate course in yoga is meant for only basic and foundation knowledge in yoga.

Hi Shiwani, After completing a degree in yoga, you can work with government schools, colleges, research centres and even hotels. Recently, the following public sector organizations invited applications from eligible candidates for positions pertaining to yoga:
Junior Yoga Experts- Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga Instructor- Chandigarh Administration
In the aforesaid job notifications, Chandigarh Administration required that candidates must have completed their B.Ed in Yoga.

Hi Shiwani, If you want to become a yoga teacher in India, then, you just join the yoga school which is registered at IYF and the Yoga Alliance, USA. I would like to suggest you Hatha Yoga School, Rishikesh and Patanjali Institute, Haridwar.

Hi Shiwani,
Nothing can replace a regular course. The things you will learn in regular education cannot be learnt through distance learning, especially when a practical intensive course like yoga is in question.

Yes, you can do yoga course via distance as well. I know about the Annamalai University which is a government university, but you have to go for practical classes in Tamil Nadu and hopefully, there are many other institutions also offering the same course. You should search online.
