The selection process is done is 2 stages. First is the written test where the candidates are mostly asked to write an essay on a particularly prominent issue, then comes the personal interview where the faculty of your desired course will ask you some questions to test your knowledge in that particular field and will quickly analyse all your skills and talents that you may likely exhibit in your field.
The admission procedure sometimes differs on the basis of Eligibility Criteria also, like in case of http://B.Sc the Eligibility is 10+2 (min 55%) with min 55% in Physics.
The Admission procedure for each program differs down the lines of whether there will be a Written Test, Group Discussion, Interview etc that will be conducted by keeping the course in which you are interested as the base.

The brand name is not all when you select a college. Amity Kolkata is very new. So, I won't strongly recommend this college in 2018.

When you come to comparison, in iem there are few orthodox thing which you will not like at all, here you will not be able to enjoy campus fun and college life at all, you have to be in very discipline manner daily come to college at 9:00 with proper uniform,80% attendance. The level of study I think is same at both the respective places. The only thing that make amity a little bit less preferable is their fee structure because Amity is costlier than iem. One more thing from now 2017 batches I heard that iem is going to be autonomous so this is also a point of consideration. If you don't have any issue with that discipline thing of iem then go for Iem, no doubt because avg. Package is more than amity but you have to comprise with you campus life. Apart from the don't of Iem, Amity has one thing in which they can compare to Iem I. e. their campus and the cincert of the annual fest only and nothing else. I hope it is quite enough to choose, need more querues then ask more I will try my best to clear your confusion b/w these two options.
