The cutoff for admission to the B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (Part Time) at Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) depends on the specific criteria established by the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) and is influenced by factors such as the candidate's performance in the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Examination and the category under which they apply. Typically, applicants must undergo the TNEA counseling process and meet the eligibility requirements, including achieving at least 50% marks in the relevant subjects. Additionally, specific seat allocation is done based on counseling ranks and other factors like reservation categories. The exact cutoff may vary each year, so it's advisable to regularly check with the official TNEA website or MIT for updated information on the cutoff details for that year.

The admission process for MIT Chennai differs with the programme you are applying for. For B.Tech programs, admission is through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions), where candidates are selected based on their Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There is no requirement for JEE scores for B.Tech admissions. For M.Tech programmes, candidates should have BTech with 50% marks in relevant fields. TANCET is compulsorily conducted, and they must also have valid GATE score for the said programmes.
