In the context of admission criteria for M.Tech programs for the academic year 2022-23 Birla Institute of Technology Mesra had fixed cutoff marks based on the GATE score and marks/percentage achieved in their under graduation examinations. The minimum GATE score cutoff was in the range of 45-60 marks for general category candidates and 35-50 marks for SC, ST and PD candidates. Furthermore, the candidates must have passed their Bachelors’ degree with minimum 60-80% marks for general category while for SC, ST and PD category the marks should be at least 50-70% to seek M.Tech programs at BIT Mesra.

There are 240 seats available for the B.Tech EEE course in BIT Mesra. Of the total 240 seats, 120 seats are available for the general category candidates. It provides special accommodations for Disabled Persons with 4 seats dedicated to PWDs. The other 4 are held for international students who may want to be part of the program. BIT Mesra has a placement cell and the students have to undergo many activities like resume writing, interview training etc. to be placed in different companies.Talking about placement, the placement report reveals the fact that there is a constant rise in the maximum salary offered to the students year by year. The highest package was INR 35 LPA for the graduating batch of EEE students for the year 2021-22 which was extended by Tower Research.Many PSUs like Power Grid, ONGC, CPRI also visit BIT Mesra to hire EEE students with reasonable salary packages offered between 10- 20 Lacs per annum.

The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra has a scholarship policy that is based on merit to encourage high academic achievements. Scholarships: Merit students of B.Tech can be granted full or part fee exemptions. In particular, full fee scholarships go to only those students who obtained 90% or more in Class 12 examinations irrespective of castes or creeds. The reserved category students have a little more relaxed score requirements - 85% for SC/ST students and 75% fee reimbursement for OBC students.
