Boards marks are nothing to do with admission in BITSAT but one should have at least 60% PCM marks. You have to give BITSAT exam to get admission in BITS, otherwise, it is not possible unless you are a state topper.

Hi Karan,
Firstly, It depends upon the cutoff marks for your shortlisting in these branches. To get an idea, please go through this link:
http://www.bitsadmission.com/cutoffscores2017.aspx
For the understanding of the difference, between the two branches, both have origin in Electrical Engineering. But in detail, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering deals with Electrical technology and machines, circuit analysis, electronics, electromagnetism, electrical engineering materials, instrumentation etc while ECE consist of analog transmission, basic electronics, solid state devices, microprocessors, digital and analog communication, analog integrated circuits, manufacturing of electronic devices, circuits etc. BITS Goa and Hyderabad are both at par with each other with the aspect of these branches.
Best wishes.

BITS does not have lateral entry.

Hi Ram,
It's a bit difficult to get CSE at any of the campuses of BITS at the score you have mentioned. But, you can try for other engineering courses at any of the campuses of BITS Pilani. You can have a look at this link for getting more clarity on the cutoff scores: http://bitsadmission.com/cutoffscores2017.aspx
Also, your child can do one thing- He/she can take admission in Integrated First Degree Course at Pilani campus, and if your ward performs well in the semester examination and brings more than 8.5 CGPA, he/she can transfer into CSE course.
Best wishes.

Hi Nitisha,
Both the courses are very good at BITS Hyderabad. The college has excellent infrastructure, faculty members and laboratories to give sound pedagogy to students. Both the courses can help you go places in your streams if you are honest in your study. Many students take up different electives to go for an IT related jobs for higher paychecks. However, it depends on you, what you want to achieve using this opportunity. The placements in Electrical and Mechanical courses are not as lucrative as CSE, but definitely at par with any good engineering institute of India. Best Wishes.

Hi Sameer,
There is only one other way of getting admission in BITS Pilani if you are not appearing in BITSAT i.e. you need to be a board topper in the intermediate (+2) examination.
Best wishes.

Hi Shrushti,
For JEE, start with building your foundation with NCERT Books. After that, you can study these reference books like for Chemistry, you can go for O. P Tandon, P. W. Atkins, Morrison & Boyd. For Physics you can read H. C. Verma, Resnick Halliday & Walker, Irodov. For maths study R. D. Sharma, S. L. Loney, TMH Complete Mathematics etc. You can use these books for your BITSAT preparations also, but make sure you register for BITSAT as well as JEE test series. Taking up mocks are good but only when you are analyzing them past giving. Do take care of this. Best Wishes for your preparations.
