Really great and opportunity here are amazing. first semester placements are quite good. You have companies like Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, SanDisk, Nvidia, Cisco etc. showing up on campus. There are about 15-20 core companies that visit on campus in the first semester for placements. Things were a bit different in the first semester 2013-14 placements. There were good companies on campus but quite distributed over the semester. So, most students, even with good CGPA got placed quite late. But, in the end there were about 10-12 good companies on campus (lesser than normal). But to sum up, first semester provides you with quite a number of opportunities to get placed in core companies (and with good, decent packages).

As per my knowledge, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is one of the best engineering colleges in India if you're comparing between Thapar Institute and BITS Pilani. Amazing faculty, infrastructure, campus life, comfortable accommodation, food, and placement facilities make TIET worth it. Last year, almost 80 - 85% of students got placed with good packages in big companies like KPMG, IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, etc. Since the faculty there have a strong corporate network, Internships provided to the students are quite good. Yes this can be good if doing M.Des. In Building Products and System, Furniture and Interior Design, Animation Design (AN, Communication Design (CD), Industrial Design (ID) and Mobility and Vehicle Design MD product Design and Textile Design etc. The best gateways for doing these courses are CEED NID and NIFT.
