You have not mentioned about the course and entrance exam name for which you obtained the rank. However if you are asking about the B.Tech programme of university of Calcutta, than as per the eligibility criteria candidate must have passed 10+2 examination under the West Bengal Board of Higher Secondary Education or even its equivalent with Chemistry, Maths and Physics with at least 60% marks in these subjects and must have cleared WBJEE. So you will not get admission here, because of not meeting the eligibility criteria.

If you have an interest in Instrumentation engineering, then you can go for that, don't go on college reputation, see what will you get after doing instrumentation engineering after 4 years. It is possible that you lose interest in instrumentation engineering in 2nd year and start coding.
