Affordable College with good placement, friendly people yet not good for people from outside kerala.
Placements: Placements are not particularly good overall, but it all depends on how you perform in the interview and examinations. You are eligible for the placement from the sixth semester onward. Companies visited recently include IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Reliance, L&T, EY, SOTI, and Visteon. Most of the offers were about 5-6 Lacs per year. The largest annual compensation is up to 15 Lacs, the lowest is 4 Lacs, and the average is up to 6 Lacs. The percentage of placed pupils range from 60 to 80%. .
Infrastructure: College labs are very good, Classes are small divided in A and B batch with total of 116 something students combined. You're strictly having 75% attendance overall in semester. Teacher do understand Hindi also, some don't, same goes for keralite students here, You'll easily make friends here, but you have to manage and struggle to match a vibe. There are lot of strikes dues to political parties here and student parties. From First year itself you won't get hostel so, you have to take PG or flat or Private hostel. The hostels infrastructure is decent, but the food is terrible. Our hostel is very good, Onam and other ocassions like Diwali is also celebrated here. First, apply for a hostel. According to the guidelines, you will only be able to get hostels in your second semester onwards based on the distance of your hometown. Wi-Fi is terrible in terms of speed, Water purifiers and coolers are there. No sports ground in hostel but outside nearby. No market or canteen nearby except for the mess.
Faculty: In my department of Computer Science, if you study you will pass or else gone. The pros also support extracurricular, achievements, and other activities. The entire faculty here is very qualified, yet some of the lecturers have a monotonous method of teaching, while some are really good at what they teach. Semester exams are held every 4 months because our batch was behind schedule, due to strikes, and other factors. The document level is not particularly difficult.
Other: I've always been interested in Computer Science, there are lot of hackathons, events, etc. Are conducted. The campus is large but not developed. There's amenity centre -with facilities like good internet speed for open student clubs Access, student shop for records and uniform, Gym, recreational room. CITTIC for startup incubation, etc. There is University library and college library to explore books and study. The campus life is quite interesting because there are no extracurricular clubs other than a few sports. There are various large festivals that take place every year. The libraries here are extremely well-maintained. There is a wide variety of books. There is also an annual sporting event. There are some teams completing national and internationally that you follow and join. E. g. Team Horizons and Yeti racing, SAE CUSAT, etc.

I really am enjoying my time here.
Placements: The placement rate at this college dropped after COVID, but it is now improving. For CS students, companies like CISCO offer very high packages, but they have stopped visiting the campus in recent years. Off-campus placements are a better option. Students who apply for placements are generally placed.
Infrastructure: The university library has a lot of books on all subjects and themes, and it has facilities like Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The classrooms are clean, but they don't have air conditioning. The labs are well-equipped with lots of computers, and there are about three or four labs per branch.
Faculty: The faculty members are very nice and supportive. They are all well qualified and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. The course curriculum is very well planned and relevant for the industries. Semester exams are of 72 marks but maximum marks is 60, which means 12 marks are bonus. However, this has changed for the new batches.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to pursue CS/IT, but my performance in JEE was not good enough to get into my top choice. This college was my final choice after I qualified the entrance exam. It is really far from my home in Delhi, but I chose it because of its reputation as a government college.

Faculties are good, infrastructure is not up to the mark, good campus life, and average placements.
Placements: About 200+ students were in the CSE batch. Packages from 25 LPA to 4 LPA were offered by companies like Cisco, IBM, Amazon, MRF, etc. Many got placed with an average package of 7 LPA. Internships were offered to 60 percent of the students. Even though paid internships were less in number, many got unpaid internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not up to the mark. University hostels are not allotted to first-year students. But there are plenty of private hostels within a 200m radius. The campus is vast, but the buildings are not that good. University hostel food and facilities are good. There are university grounds for sports activities and a sports arena, which includes a gym, badminton, chess, boxing, etc.
Faculty: Faculties are well qualified. The curriculum of the college is a little vast compared to others. Exams are of decent difficulty. Students are supposed to refer to books from the SOE library or the university library. Teachers are good and teach well in class. Strikes are often on the campus for reasonable issues.

Come to CUSAT, enjoy campus life, and benefit from good placements.
Placements: About 85 percent of seniors were placed from my college in good companies like Google, Amazon, Corizon, IBM, etc. The highest package offered in my course, B.Tech in Computer Science, was ₹27 LPA, with placement at Google, which included accommodation and other benefits. Many students have secured good placements.
Infrastructure: In my department, Wi-Fi is available, which provides a good experience, and the labs are well-equipped. Since CUSAT is a university, there are many different types of labs open to students. The hostel is also in good condition, offering Wi-Fi, good food, and games.
Faculty: The teachers are quite friendly and knowledgeable, almost knowing everything. The course syllabus is well-structured and prepares students to be industry-ready. Semester exams can be a bit difficult, but the pass percentage is around 80% because all students study diligently with the help of teachers.

Is CUSAT up to its hype? Is it value for money?
Placements: Around 50% of students get placed. The highest package for CSE is 24LPA by Cisco. Lower packages can go as low as 15k per month. IBM, Cisco, TCS, Infosys, and Tata Elxsi are among the top recruiters. Internships have been made compulsory even for first-year students under the new syllabus scheme. The college has also been known for it's students getting selected for METI scholarships, a fully funded internship by the Japanese government. Students who perform well are often selected and can even fly to Japan for an internship. Most companies offer software engineering roles, while companies like Cisco offer the role of network engineer.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are average. Some have smart boards and other facilities. There are labs for different subjects like networks, OOP, OS, etc. Hostels are good and only cost you 500 rupees per month as rent. Canteen and mess facilities are good and food is available for cheap prices. There is a medical center with a doctor full-time and also a therapy centre. Sports and games facilities are average; there are separate volleyball, basketball and tennis courts. Football is played on another field, which is also used for safety and fire drills.
Faculty: Teachers are good and the syllabus at CUSAT is claimed to be at par with NITs. It has a tier 1 rating of syllabus. The course curriculum has improved with the new scheme and has added compulsory internships for students, which will make them industry-ready. Semester exams are often of above-average difficulty. The pass rate is around 80%.
Other: CSE at CUSAT is one of the best in Kerala. CUSAT as a whole is a big world with courses like BTech in Safety and Fire, Marine Engineering, Ship Technology, Integrated MSc in Photonics, and many more. These courses offered make CUSAT stand out. And for course like Safety and Fire, there is a 100% placement. Companies like ONGC and Gail recruit students on great packages
