A:
The tuition fee for four-year BTech courses at CUSAT and affiliated colleges ranges from INR 85,800 – INR 8.58 lakh. Q:   Is 12000 a good rank in CUSAT for BTech?

A:

Looking at the previous-year General All-India CUSAT CAT ranks for BTech, there is a less chance of getting into the programme with a rank of 12,000. Candidates can get a seat but not in top specialisations like Computer Science Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship Building, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, etc. Students must secure a rank under 1,000 to get a seat in the preffered BTech specialisation at CUSAT.

    The best campus in Kerala
Placements: I’m currently in the ECE batch, and we’re having a lot of placements, though they’re lower than in the CS batch. The highest package offered last year was 20 LPA. Top companies include BSNL, Amazon, and Wipro. Additionally, there are several internships provided by senior members and other companies.
Infrastructure: There are lots of labs, like for every subject there is a practical lab. Hostel facilities are worthy and affordable with 5 days non-veg and 2 days veg. There is a separate mess order for North Indians. The hostel fee is very affordable, with a maximum monthly charge of around 700.
Faculty: Faculties are highly qualified and they are very helpful too. There are lots of faculties for each subject. Students are also learning language skills and social skills. There are separate members for such classes. There is no spoon-feeding. You have to manage all by yourself.
Other: Compared to CSE, the ECE-related jobs are a little bit stable and progressive. Like CSE, you don't need to get updated every time. And ECE is also a field where you can do research and so on.

The top college for BTech in Kerala.
Placements: Almost 60% of students got placement in our college. If we passout without any supply, placement is confirmed in cusat. Many top companies are recruiting employees from cusat as it is the best college with good quality students studying with guidance of great faculties.
Infrastructure: The college provides great infrastructure for their students. The lab facilities and classroom facilities are the best in Kerala. Even though it is a college in Kerala, it will provide international-standard facilities to assist students and provide a peaceful study environment.
Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and help as much as they can. They are highly educated from top institutes in India. The course curriculum is very relevant and it will help the student to be industry-ready. The difficulty of semester exams are moderate and we need 50% mark for passing.

Average placements, supporting faculty members, average infrastructure.
Placements: Around 80% of students get placed. Top recruiting companies for our courses are IBM, Infosys, TCS, Accenture, Cisco, and Reliance. The highest package is 20 Lacs, the lowest package is 3 Lacs, and the average package is 5 Lacs. The top role offered in our course is SDE.
Infrastructure: The labs and library are well-furnished. There is a very good environment for studies in the library. The hostel is well-furnished, but the food is very bad. Also, the behavior of the warden is very bad. There are not too many facilities for sports and games.
Faculty: The teachers are very well-qualified, but not that supportive. The course is not that relevant, and it is somehow relevant to being industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult, and the passing percentage is around 50%.
Other: I have a bit of interest in Electronics, that's why I chose this course. There should be more industry-based subjects in the courses. We frequently have a lot of events like Hackathons, Music nights, etc.

Don't join CUSAT without knowing this or else you will regret later
Placements: When it comes to placements in CUSAT, I have researched and found that many companies are offering placements like TATA, Cisco, TCS, MRF, etc. For Cisco-like companies, they have many huge demands: you should not have any supply and should score above a 9.3 CGPA, and mainly it depends on you presenting yourself in the interview. The average LPA is 6-7 and the highest is 25 LPA. When I asked students who study here, mainly CS, IT, and some EC, they said it is more compared to other branches. My future vision and assumption are that maybe EC and EEE will lead when the semiconductor industry booms in India.
Infrastructure: When it comes to infrastructure, it is decent when compared to NIT. Any issues with this being an open university, the main problem is that all departments are scattered, and you have to walk more – you may lose weight. When it comes to the university, there are two libraries: one for all and one specifically for engineering students. In the library, there is free Wi-Fi, and you can use it without any restrictions. In the amenities center, you have a gym, badminton court, boxing training, table tennis, and chess, and also have basketball, volleyball, and football courts. For boxing and gym, you have to pay a small training fee, which is very cheap.
Faculty: When it comes to faculty, most of them are good, but some are not. When talking about the curriculum, it is the latest 2023 updated syllabus, and an internship every 10 days is compulsory. I think it may give more exposure to the industry and its demands. The pass percentage depends on the branch you choose. In EEE, it’s almost 20%, and it varies depending on the branch you choose.
Other: I chose CUSAT because this was the only good option compared to other colleges, and my relatives have already studied in CUSAT and got campus placements. I have seen their Instagram stories, and more of that made me more interested in CUSAT.

Review of Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi.
Placements: Placements for core are there but less in number. There are plenty of IT companies that come for placement. Also, there are several sales companies that offer big packages during placement. Big companies like Amazon used to come but nowadays it is becoming less and less.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. The hostels are good. There will be a good hostel as most of the students are hostelers. The facilities are qualified so you need to have a deep understanding of the subjects to pass the exams. The library has every book we need for our studies.
Faculty: Curriculum is hard to score marks. So you need to have a good understanding of each and every subject. The course and curriculum also get updated so new skills and rising technologies can be learned by students. For students to be industry-ready, there are several clubs that take part in different aspects of engineering.
