At Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated based on the grading system and credit hours assigned to each course. Here's a general overview of how CGPA is calculated at DSU:Grade Points: Each course at DSU is assigned a specific number of credits, which represents its weightage in the overall calculation. Additionally, each grade is associated with a corresponding grade point. The grade points at DSU typically follow a scale from 10 to 4, where 10 is the highest grade point (usually denoted as 'S' for Satisfactory) and 4 is the lowest passing grade point (usually denoted as 'D').Credit Hours: Each course has a designated number of credit hours, which reflects the amount of time and effort required to complete the course successfully. The credit hours assigned to a course indicate its weightage in the overall CGPA calculation.Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation: To calculate the GPA for a particular semester, the grade points earned in each course are multiplied by the corresponding credit hours for that course. The sum of these products is divided by the total credit hours taken in that semester. This calculation yields the semester GPA.Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Calculation: The CGPA is the average of all the GPAs obtained in each semester. To calculate the CGPA, the total grade points earned in all semesters are divided by the total credit hours taken in all semesters.Incomplete Grades and Repeating Courses: In case a student receives an incomplete grade or chooses to repeat a course, the new grade obtained in the repeated course will replace the earlier grade for CGPA calculation purposes. The CGPA is calculated on the basis of all pass grades, except audit courses and courses in which SC / CC grade obtained in all completed semesters.CGPA = Cumulative points secured in all passed courses (O-P grade) / Cumulative earned credits, excluding audit and SC or CC gradeThe grading system at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) follows a scale of grade points and their corresponding descriptions. The highest grade, denoted as "O" (Outstanding), carries a grade point of 10 and is awarded for exceptional performance, typically ranging from 90.1% to 100%. The grade "A+" (Excellent) corresponds to a grade point of 9 and represents outstanding achievement within the percentage range of 80.1% to 90%. A grade of "A" (Very Good) signifies a grade point of 8 and indicates a highly commendable performance between 70.1% to 80%. For good performance falling in the range of 60.1% to 70%, the grade "B+" (Good) is assigned, carrying a grade point of 7. The grade "B" (Above Average) with a grade point of 6 is given to scores between 55.1% and 60%. "C" (Average), with a grade point of 5, reflects satisfactory performance within the range of 50.1% to 55%. The grade "P" (Pass) represents a minimum passing grade, with a grade point of 4, awarded for scores between 45.1% and 50%. Students who obtain marks between 40% and 44.9% receive the grade "E" (Pass with low grades) and a grade point of 2. Lastly, the grade "F" (Fail) denotes a score below 40% and carries a grade point of 0. These grades and their descriptions provide a comprehensive assessment of a student's performance in their courses at DSU.

Hostel facilities at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) are readily available, accommodating a significant number of students ranging from approximately 300 to 400 individuals. The university ensures separate hostels for male and female students, prioritizing their safety and comfort. However, it's important to note that there have been some concerns raised regarding the quality and variety of food provided in the hostels. According to feedback from students, the food served in the mess has been deemed subpar, failing to meet their expectations. Furthermore, the mess timings have been reported as relatively rigid, with meals being served strictly between 7:00 AM and 8:30 PM. This has occasionally posed challenges for students who required meals outside of the designated mess hours, as the facility would be closed. Consequently, some students have had to make alternative arrangements to fulfill their dietary needs during those times. It is advisable for prospective students to consider these factors and potentially seek further information from the university or current students regarding any updates or improvements made to the hostel food services at DSU.

Certain penalties may occur if a student fails the internal exams at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU). It is crucial to note that the particular policies and processes for failed internal exams vary amongst institutions, therefore students should refer to DSU's official guidelines for the most up-to-date information. However, here are some possible consequences in general:Academic Probation: If a student fails internal tests, he or she may be placed on academic probation. The student's academic progress is closely watched throughout this time, and they may be required to achieve certain conditions in order to continue their studies at the institution.DSU may provide corrective measures such as additional classes, tutorials, or assistance programmes to assist students in improving their comprehension of the subject matter. These measures aim to provide the necessary guidance and support for the student to succeed in subsequent attemptsExam Retakes: Depending on the policies of the university, students who fail internal tests may be able to repeat those exams during a subsequent assessment session. Passing the retake tests allows the student to advance academically and continue their studies uninterrupted.Academic Counselling: Students who fail internal exams may be eligible for academic counselling services from DSU. These counselling sessions are intended to discover any underlying issues or challenges that may have contributed to the failure and to provide advice on how to effectively overcome them.Failure to Pass Internal examinations: Failing internal examinations may cause a student's study programme to be extended. This can happen if a student needs to retake failed tests or take additional courses to make up for lost credits. Students must speak with academic counsellors to understand the implications for their graduation timeline.Disqualification: In extreme situations, if a student fails internal exams multiple times and fails to meet the university's academic criteria, DSU may take disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from the programme. Disqualification usually indicates that the student will be unable to continue their studies at university. It is crucial for students to communicate with their professors, academic advisors, or the university's designated department to understand the specific policies and procedures in place at Dayananda Sagar University regarding failed internal exams.

According to several of my Dayanand Sagar College friends, if a student misses one interval, he or she has two possibilities. The internal marks for an interval are the best of the three. As a result, there is still time to correct the previous error. Students who have missed an interval may attend the remaining two and receive the requisite grade, which is completely acceptable to the institute.Inform the Head of Department of your circumstance. It is his/her responsibility to make decisions based on your reasoning. There is no need to be concerned if you have a valid justification supported by proofs and papers. They are quite considerate in that case. The Department Head may grant you permission to take the test later if they believe the reasons are genuine after viewing your case.
