{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}How does the placement cell for B.E./B.Tech at IIST Trivandrum assist students in getting placed? * Direct Placement in ISRO: Till the current batch, most students with a CGPA of 7.5 or above are directly absorbed into ISRO as Scientist/Engineer 'SC' (Class 'A' gazetted officers).* Placement Cell Efforts: The placement cell tries to place students who do not meet the ISRO criteria in private companies.* Limited Company Visits: Due to the limited number of companies visiting the campus, the top recruiting company is currently ISRO, followed by occasional visits from Accenture, TCS, and AgniKul.* Summer Internship: Mandatory summer internships are conducted between the 6th and 7th semester, allowing students to gain practical experience in various industries, including ISRO centers.* Package Ranges: The average salary package ranges from INR5-6 Lacs per annum, while the highest package offered is around INR14 Lacs per annum, and the lowest is around INR2 Lacs per annum.* Other Opportunities: Students can explore other internship opportunities in various companies, although this may impact their academic performance.Overall, the placement cell at IIST Trivandrum focuses on securing direct placements in ISRO for top-performing students and attempting to place others in private companies through periodic recruitment drives. While the number of company visits is limited, the institution encourages students to pursue summer internships to gain hands-on experience in their field.

No, you cannot be admitted to the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) for a B.Tech degree if your class 12 percentage was 60%. The minimal requirements for admission to IIST's BTech programme are 75% of total marks in class 12 (65% for ST/SC, and PwD candidates). In summary, it appears that IIST does not have a minimum percentage requirement for class 12th grades, but fulfilling the JEE Main eligibility criteria - which includes earning 60% or above in certain courses in class 12th grade - is essential to being admitted to its B.Tech degree.
