Hello Sumanth,
Firstly let me offer my heartiest congratulations on scoring such handsome marks in your Diploma exam. Yes, you indeed can get admission in IIT Mumbai. But, unfortunately IIT's don't give lateral admission. Your Diploma would be considered as equivalent to class 12th. You will have to appear for and pass with good marks JEE Mains as well as JEE Advanced. That's all. Best wishes to you.

The minimum eligibility criteria for JEE-Main is class 12th or students appearing in class 12th can also apply. Candidates must have taken 5 subjects in class XII or equivalent qualifying exam. The 5 subjects for B.Tech/ BE are:- 1-Language 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics 4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject) 5-Any other subjects The 5 subjects for B.Arch/ B.Planning are: 1-Language 2-Physics 3-Mathematics (compulsory) 4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject) 5-Any other subjects Further in JEE Main, Candidates can appear in the exam for three consecutive years. Since the entrance will be conducted twice a year, the candidate can choose to appear in both attempts. However, the attempt for a particular academic year will be considered as one. For admission to IITs, A student needs to secure a good rank in JEE-Advance(Conducted after the JEE-Main) and for NITs and other GFTIs, the admissions are made based on JEE-Main ranks. The minimum qualifying marks in 12th for getting admission in IITs, NITs & GFTIs are 75%(Aggregate) or should be in the top 20 percentile of the concerned state board. So, this is very clear here that you cannot apply for JEE-Main based on an engineering diploma. However, based on a diploma you can get direct lateral entry (Admission in 2nd year) in some reputed engineering college. Good Luck.

The M.Sc Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering is offers at IIT, Bombay only. The minimum educational qualifications for admission is as under :
Any one of Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the other four subjects for at least one year/two semesters. In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. So your JAM-BL score is acceptable in your case.
