Candidates seeking admission to the MA Economics course need to take the entrance exam. Selection is done based on merit in the Objective Aptitude Test and Descriptive Test conducted by IIFT Delhi. IIFT exam score is valid for admission to IIFT Institutes only – IIFT Delhi, IIFT Kolkata and IIFT Kakinada. No other MBA/PGDM institute accepts IIFT exam score for admission. The exam scores are accepted for admission to MBA International Business and MBA Business Analytics. The latter has been introduced in 2023 academic year. For, 2024-26 batch, the IIFT score will not be accepted by the institute itself too as it has decided to shortlist candidates on the basis of their CAT 2023 score. In fact, the institute will not conduct the IIFT entrance exam for admission to the 2024-26 batch.

Apart from the IIFT entrance exam score, only GMAT score is accepted for admission to the MBA-International Business programme. The GMAT score is accepted from international /NRI/PIO students only. For domestic students applying for MBA International Business course, appearing in IIFT entrance exam is mandatory. However, for the 2024-26 batch admission, the institute has decided to not conduct the IIFT entrance exam and instead accept CAT 2023 score for domestic candidates. Which means, domestic candidates have to appear for CAT 2023 exam to be eligible for IIFT-MBA admission.

IIFT conducts the Writing Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) round for IIFT admission in March and April. The WAT round is a 20-minute essay writing session in which a candidate is given a topic to write. The topic can be from any field like economics, society, philosophy, life, politics, international event, etc.In 2021 and 2022, the WAT and GD rounds were not conducted and only the PI was conducted online due to COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, the institute had planned to conduct WAT-GD-PI face to face, but most of the candidates opted for online assessment, thus the PI was conducted through video call and GD was replaced with extempore. The institute will announced admission process for 2024 batch in February 2024.

Candidates fulfilling the course-specific eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for Executive PGDM in IIFT Delhi. Eligible candidates can fill out the admission form in online mode by visiting the IIFT official website (iift.ac.in). IIFT shortlists candidates based on merit in the last qualifying examination and relevant work experience. The shortlisted candidates are further required to participate in the group discussion and personal interview (GDPI) rounds. Final seat allotment is carried out after all the selection rounds.

For final selection, candidates must clear the written test, essay write-up and GDPI round conducted by IIFT. The institute releases the cutoff list after the entrance test.
