JNU offers best quality education in the most affordable prices.
Placements: There is no placement cell in JNU for sociology. But a degree from JNU would surely add a feather to your CV which will make you an outstanding student when you apply to any institute of social development or social work, NGO, UN organization, or any other research organization.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided at JNU are really nice. The JNU campus is one of a kind in the country with lush green trees, flowers, birds, peacocks, and many more. The entire campus has high-speed Wi-Fi. And all the hostels have separate mess with a very good quality of food with varieties catering to students coming from different areas of the country.
Faculty: JNU has one of the best faculty members in the country for research in sciences and social sciences. The semester exams are easy if one has followed the classes regularly. The M.A. Course requires in-depth knowledge of the readings. Only when you have read nicely can you answer and score well.
Other: A placement cell would be great. There are several extracurricular activities for every student.

One of the best universities.
Placements: The university has its own efficient placement cell which provides a great opportunity for all students to sit for their chosen companies and is based on the merit system. My friends got good job offers in different companies. JNU is known for its intensive research-based projects which have not only contributed to national growth but also to international development.
Infrastructure: It has a great infrastructure with archaic buildings, big classrooms, many auditoriums, conference halls, a sports complex, a yoga hall, stadiums, a forest area, 17 hostels, a market complex, a well-maintained drainage system, a well-formed road network, wildlife, a cycling club, a mountaineering club, an open air theatre, staff headquarters, faculty headquarters and parking available everywhere.
Faculty: The faculty team includes well-educated prominent scholars and professors who have global linkages and the experience to guide you through your studies. They are well-versed with the study material and gives you excellent instructions. I have had the best experience with my teachers who guided me through my research projects and doubts whenever I had one. They were always available for contact.

Q:   Is JNU better than DU?

A:

As per the NIRF 2024 rankings, JNU is ranked 2nd, while DU is ranked 6th under 'University' category. This clearly suggests that JNU is a better university overall. However, these rankings are based on a variety of factors. Furthermore, the best university for a student will depend on the individual needs and preferences. Here is the comparison of JNU and DU based on some key factors:

  • Academics: JNU is known for its strong academics and research focus. It has a number of world-renowned faculty members, and its students have gone on to achieve great things in their careers. DU is also a good university academically, but it is not as research-intensive as JNU.
  • Campus Life: JNU has a vibrant campus life with a strong student union. There are many student organizations and activities, and the university has a reputation for being a hotbed of political activism. DU also has a good campus life, but it is not as political as JNU.
  • Location: JNU is located in South Delhi, while DU is spread out across the city. This means that JNU students have a more central location, while DU students have more options when it comes to choosing a college or hostel.
  • Fees: The fees at JNU are lower than the fees at DU. This is because JNU is a central university, while DU is a state university.

Getting admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University has got tougher. From an average of 20 candidates per seat in the past, it has risen to 36 per seat this time. Just how much tougher it has become can be gauged from the fact that MA political science has 144 candidates per seat.

Hi, you need to have minimum 45% in graduation. Admission is based on the rank in the Entrance exam conducted by the University and Deprivation points awarded, if applicable. Separate merit lists are prepared for each category i.e. candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PH categories.
