College is good. Not bad.
Placements: The best part of this college is the placements. The highest package last year was 51 lac/year and the minimum was 4.5 lac/year with the average of 11 lac/year. The main companies that came for placements are Microsoft, Apple, Reliance, IOCL, Maruti Suzuki, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel infrastructure is pretty good. There are some new hostels and some old hostels. Each person is provided with a table, a chair, and an almirah. The mess food is not up to the mark and the mess food is sometimes unhygienic and tasteless. In the hostel, there is Wi-Fi surveillance, which is good. There is a central library, which is very big. All books are available in the library and inside the library, there is also Wi-Fi surveillance.
Faculty: The faculty is pretty good and every faculty holds a Ph.D. degree in his/her own domain. The classrooms are also pretty good but the laboratory equipment is outdated. Equal focus is given on both theory and practical knowledge. The syllabus is regularly updated to meet industrial demands. The semester exams happen twice every six months.
Other: There are two major events, Recstacy and Aarohan, which are the two fests of this college. Aarohan is the tech fest whereas Recstacy is the cultural fest.

High restrictions, nice mess food, restricted sporting activities, but a healthy academic atmosphere
Placements: The highest package offered in 2023 was 70 Lacs to a student of ECE depth, with 54 Lacs bagged by a CSE student. This college provides more job-oriented jobs than core-sector jobs. Top recruiters include Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, TCS, etc. Maximum students are placed in metallurgy (100), followed by CSE, ECE, EE, and ME (around 80–90).
Infrastructure: The infrastructure facilities of NIT Durgapur are both new and old but renovated. Recent infrastructure, like the research lab (Utkarsh Bhawan), is very nice. All buildings are well-equipped with Wi-Fi, digital classrooms, and eateries beside them. Hostel facilities are very good, with good Wi-Fi, the availability of lifts, 24*7 electricity and water services, and an equipped fire alarm for safety. Mess food is satisfactory; I 4 times nonveg four times a week.
Faculty: Teachers at NIT Durgapur are very talented, qualified, and knowledgeable, but lack teaching skills. Some teachers use only the classic blackboard in class, making it difficult to understand at times. The course curriculum is beyond the mark. DSA is introduced in the first year itself; nonetheless, other subjects are interesting to study.
Other: I chose electrical engineering due to my personal interest in and passion for electrical instruments from childhood. Even though it was a difficult branch, I opted for this college with the hope of a branch update, which I later felt irrelevant. Campus is vibrant, but only on summer days since events are not distributed evenly throughout the year. Nonetheless, one can enjoy various clubs and festivals.

Come if you are a bookworm or else just leave.
Placements: Around 80% students in Electrical Engineering got placed. The highest package was 45 LPA placed in Microsoft, the lowest was 6 LPA and average package was 12.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Microsoft, JPMC, Qualcomm, EY, Well Fargo, Instruments. Around 15% students got internships and some of them are Microsoft, JPMC, PWC, Well Fargo etc. On the tech side, almost everyone got SDE role and some got consultancy role.
Infrastructure: No Wi-Fi will be provided in labs or classrooms for students but provided in the library. Hostel facilities are average, food is good on some days not that good on some days so you guys have to adjust accordingly. There will be many canteens where you can buy things or snacks at reasonable prices only. Medical facilities are very good. Sports and games facilities are not that good but we can adjust.
Faculty: 70% teaching staff is helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable; the other 30% are just barks on students. Jis proof ko nahi aata hai vahi thoda jyada karega. Yes, somewhat, but to be the best you have to meet pros regularly and be nice with them, and they will help you. As we are Electrical students, we face some sort of difficulty in exams, and the subjects are lengthy, but even if you start preparation 10 days before exams, you can score at max 8 CGPA. Pass percentage is 35%.
Other: I never chose it. I just got it in the counseling. So I'm not enjoying the course that much. Professors have to be more friendly with students and corrections in the exams should not be so hard. And coming to the events, yes, you can enjoy many events like 2 per semester.

An Overall idea to join NIT Durgapur.
Placements: NIT Dgp has better placement compared to many other colleges. Our college has placement rate of 89% and for MME it is 100%. The college average package is 13.5 Lacs, for CSE it is 24 Lacs, for electrical it is 14.5 Lacs, for ECE it is 19 Lacs, for MME it is 8 Lacs, for Civil it is 1p Lacs, for Mechanical it is 11 Lacs. Our college has good coding culture. Every year many students are placed in teach giants companies like JP Morgan, Microsoft, Google, Snapdragon etc.
Infrastructure: Our hostels are well maintained. Our hostels are fully Wi-Fi equipped. Every lab is well-equipped and Wi-Fi is also available. Our classroom is large enough so that it can fill 250 students at a time. Our mess food is good enough to eat and special dinner is bliss. Our college has medical unit which is free for all students and available all the days 24/7. Every year we have inter NIT sports and our college has 2 grounds.
Faculty: We have very few exams compared to other colleges. One mid exam, lab exam, one semester exam and that's done. Our faculty is good enough so that we pass our exam easily. We get chance to engage with them and we have chance to learn lot from them. Our curriculum is good enough. We don't have more than 4 classes a day. We got lot of please time to explore. Semester exams not too tough and not too hard.
Other: Our college is well known for circuital branches like CSE and ECE and electrical. Our campus is 184 acres, large enough to roam freely.

Satisfied but placements are decreasing due to recession.
Placements: Placements for EE students are quite good in NIT DGP. EE ranks second among all branches in percentage of student placed and average package. Top roles include SDE, GET, etc. Almost all the companies are open for EE ( core, tech, etc.). And same goes for internships too. Students in 3rd year can opt for internships in the respective companies of their domain.
Infrastructure: Hostels for first years (Hall-11) and second years (Hall-14) are newly built, so they are good, but the other hostels are not up to the mark. Wi-Fi facilities in all the hostels are fine, but the quality varies from hostel to hostel. There is no night canteen on our campus, which is a big disadvantage.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, and the curriculum is relevant, but you will have to study most of the things from YouTube (like in most of the engineering colleges). The midterms are quite easy, and for the endterm, you can solve the previous year's questions, which are easily available on college portals. Most of the teachers have completed their doctorates from premier institutions.
