If you happen to have a Common Rank List (CRL) rank of 55,500 and an OBC-NCL rank of 16,500, you can expect your chances of securing a seat at NIT Trichy through Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) to depend much on the course taken, category-wise closing ranks for the particular courses, and other trends from the previous year. Below is an analysis based on your rank and eligibility :-Factors to Consider:State Quota Advantage: Being from Tamil Nadu, you have a right to claim home state (HS) advantages which usually offer lower cut-off ranks than the all-india quota (AIQ).Popular Branches: Core programs, like Computer Science (CSE), Electronics (ECE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME), usually have higher cutoffs while others like Civil, Metallurgy, or Production could have cutoffs relatively relaxed.CSAB Rounds: The special rounds of CSAB usually have a bit of a relaxing effect on cutoffs compared to JoSAA's, as leftover seats are filled.Past Year Closing Ranks:Here are recent years' approximate closing ranks for the branch in NIT Trichy for the OBC-NCL category (home state):CSE: ~2,000–3,500ECE: ~4,000–6,500Mechanical: ~8,000–11,000Civil: ~10,000–14,000Metallurgical & Materials Engineering: ~14,000–17,000Production Engineering: ~15,000–18,000Analysis of Your Chances:Less favorable for high-demand branches such as CSE or ECE as a lot of competition exists.Definitely possible for branches like Civil, Metallurgical, and Production; especially in CSAB special rounds.Next Steps:;Check the exact cutoffs for NIT Trichy on the official CSAB website or reports of last years.Participate in CSAB special rounds to maximize your chances, as cutoffs tend to drop slightly for less-demanded branches.Be ready with Backup options like some other NITs or IIITs that may offer better branches for your OBC rank.
