The BA LLB programme at National Law University in Assam is highly regarded. The course will last for five years. The placement information for the 2023 graduating class is still pending. On its official website, the institute has, nevertheless, made available the NIRF report for 2023. One BA LLB (Hons) student was placed at NLU Assam placements in 2021, according the NIRF report 2023. Additionally, INR 7.63 LPA was the median package provided to BA LLB students during NLU Assam placements in 2021. Regarding campus placements, you may receive a package that ranges from 10 to 15 LPA. The maximum package available was approximately 15 lacs annually.

Candidates who wish to pursue BA LLB at NLU Assam must have obtained a minimum of 45% in class 12 exam. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to LLB is that the candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with above mentioned marks from any recognised board/council. Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/ April, 2024 are also eligible to appear. Candidate must submit result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission. Further the entrance exam for admission to NLU is CLAT.

CLAT is the entrance exam that NLU Assam accepts for admission. The Consortium of NLUs administers the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a national law entrance test, to candidates seeking admission to one-year LLM (PG) and five-year integrated LLB (UG) programmes. Exams are given for admission to 21 NLUs in postgraduate programmes and 24 NLUs in undergraduate programmes. Candidates must answer questions on English, Current Affairs and GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Mathematics for UG courses, as well as Constitutional Law and other legal subjects like Jurisprudence, Torts, IPC, CrPC, CPC, Family Law, and IPR. The exam is administered offline using pen and paper format.

Following Round 5 for admission to the BA LLB and LLM programmes, CLAT 2023 was completed. The latest round closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) was 2569, and for LLM, it was 2621, according to the NLUJAA cutoff 2023. Moreover, CLAT 2024 is anticipated to take place on December 3 for NLUJAA admissions in 2024. The tentative release date for the NLUJAA cutoff 2024 is January 2024, taking into account the schedule from the previous year.

Both these law schools are at par with each other, be it academics, mooting (though GNLU is doing substantially better of late), placements (NLU-J takes this one, but it’s all about the batch size) and other basic criteria. Now, let’s break this question down and try to answer it from an unbiased and rational point of view.As per the NLU placement reports recorded for the past five years, NLSIU Bangalore, NLU Delhi, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, and GNLU are leading the best placements for law students (among NLUs). Therefore, law aspirants prefer NLUs since they rank among the top law schools in India

The CLAT entrance exam is approved as a valid admission exam by NLU Assam. CLAT 2023 was finished after Round 5 for admission to the BA LLB and LLM degrees. According to the NLUJAA cutoff 2023, the most recent round closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) was 2569, and for LLM, it was 2621. The NLUJAA cutoff for BA LLB in 2023 closed at 2271, slightly higher than the cutoff in 2022, which closed at 1765, based on the CLAT cutoff for the preceding three years. After Round 1, NLUJAA closing ranks were increasing for both BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programmes, based on a comparison of the rounds.

In order to study a BA LLB at NLU Assam, candidates must have received at least a 45% in their class 12 test. The candidate must have completed his 10+2 or equivalent with the above-mentioned marks from any accredited board or council in order to be eligible for admission to the LLB programme. Applicants may also appear if they plan to take their qualifying exam in March or April of 2024. At the time of admission, the candidate must present the results of the qualifying exam, or 10+2, in order to be admitted; otherwise, they will not be allowed. Moreover, CLAT is the entrance exam required for admission to NLU.

Both institutions, GNLU and NUJS, are prestigious national law universities in India, offering excellent legal education. In the 2023 rankings, GNLU was fourth in Outlook and India Today rankings. For GNLU's 2022 placements, the median packages were INR 15.4 LPA for UG 5-year and INR 4.2 LPA for PG 1-year programs, with placement rates of 66% and 55% respectively.
