NLU Kolkata (NUJS) - The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Answered Questions

In Faculty of Law, Calcutta University, 95 BA LLB and 4,201 PG (2-year) students were placed during 2022 placements. The median package offered to BA LLB and PG (2-year) students during Faculty of Law, University of Calcutta placements 2022 was 7.84 Lacs per annum and 9.20 Lacs per annum, respectively. The college had 100% placement records for the past few years. The average package ranged between 14-18 Lacs per annum by national law firms and 46-48 Lacs per annum by international law firms. The top recruiting companies are Trilegal, Khaitan & Co., SAM, CAM and other law firms.

For BA LLB, NLU Kolkata will be a better option than the Faculty of Law, Calcutta. This can be justified by seeing the rankings of the Institutes. NLU Kolkata is ranked #1 in West Bengal and # 5 out of 30 in India by NIRF. Faculty of Law, CU was ranked #2 in West Bengal and # 28 out of 39 in India by IIRF. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the CLAT Last Allotment list 2024. As per the NLU Kolkata  CLAT cutoff 2024, the round 5 closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) was 279 for the students belonging to the General AI category. WBNUJS Kolkata accepts CLAT scores for admission to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M courses. NLU  Kolkata cutoff 2024 for Round 1 is yet to be release. However, as per the Nalsar University of Law cutoff 2023, the Round 1 closing rank for BA LLB (Hons) was 260. So, considering the NUJS previous year cutoff, this year it is expected that the Round 1 cutoff will range between 250 to 270. Well, this is a very complicated question to be answered. Both these law schools are at par with each other, be it academics, mooting (though GNLU is doing substantially better of late), placements (NLU-J takes this one, but it’s all about the batch size) and other basic criteria.
