There is a very famous charitable trust in Mumbai called Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal. They established Narsi Monjee Institute of Management Studies way back in 1981. This has now grown into a full-fledged deemed to be university. It has branches in more than 7 locations across the length and breadth of India. In Mumbai, they have a school of performing arts which offers Bachelor of arts in vocal and sitar which are performing arts. The admission process is pretty simple. The student who wishes for admission needs to have passed 12th examination with at least 50% of marks. This condition could be waved off if the student has some special talents. In every case the student has to apply online and also upload a video of his performing either vocal or sitar recital. The committee of admission will go through this and assign certain dates for audition of each and every prospective student. After the end of this audition round, the merit list will be prepared and the successful candidates will be informed while those in waiting can check on the website of this institute. So, in a nutshell the admission depends on the quality of performance in the audition round. This perhaps means that the admission process is not very difficult if one has the talent.
